Dr. Rule is a clinical psychologist and works with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and families. Dr. Rule joined Psychiatric & Psychological Associates of Durham in 2001. He provides assessment and psychotherapy services across the developmental lifespan to individuals who may be struggling with a variety of emotional and behavioral issues including: mood and anxiety issues; Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); family issues, parenting skills and strategies, and situationally and developmentally related coping or adjustment difficulties. Dr. Rule believes it is important to identify existing strengths in individuals and families. Recognizing such points of resiliency will often provide the framework for expanding on the strengths and adopting healthy, adaptive coping, skills and and strategies. His therapeutic approach draws upon cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and family-systems modalities. Prior to joining PPAD, Dr. Rule provided assessment and psychotherapy services in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings including: state psychiatric hospital, community mental health center, hospital child/adolescent inpatient, group homes, residential centers, schools and nursing homes. Dr. Rule earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communication Studies from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology / Argosy University, specializing in child, adolescent, and family psychological assessment and psychotherapy. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the St. Cloud Hospital Behavioral Health Clinic, St. Cloud, MN.
