Janis (Jan) has been licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) since 2003. Prior to her position as outpatient therapist here at PPAD, she worked in Western Pennsylvania as a mental health therapist in a variety of settings and capacities for a bit over 20 years. Jan has provided counseling/treatment for individual adults, couples, adolescents and their families in residential, home/community and outpatient settings.  Jan also has training and experience in treating substance abuse/addiction, grief and loss, and family disruptions that have been the result of behavioral, emotional instability, and/or loss of another family member.  Of particular interest is treatment of people who either are diagnosed with or are affected by autism, mental illness, addiction and/or abuse.

Methods of treatment include traditional talk therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), cognitive therapies (CBT), strength based therapies, solution focused therapy, trauma resolution, problem solving and/or life coaching. She is experienced in discussing alternative treatments for recovery. 

In the Pittsburgh, PA area she enjoyed providing clinical supervision for a staff of 14 therapists and LPC candidates.
