Sandra Painter, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Sandra Painter has been a licensed clinical social worker since 2009. Prior to coming to Psychiatric and Psychological Associates, she worked at Wake County Human Services in a variety of settings, including 15 years as a therapist in the women’s health clinics, where she worked with women experiencing a variety of life challenges. She has worked with adults dealing with symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, at various life stages, including before during and after pregnancy, as well as in midlife and beyond.
Sandra’s integrity and compassion guide her therapeutic approach, which draws primarily from Bowen Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness practices. She believes individuals and families know best how to manage their lives, but that there are times people may want to clarify their thinking about issues or take their management of a life challenge up a notch.
Sandra graduated from UNC-CH with a Bachelor in Spanish in 1993 and a Masters in Social Work in 2009. She has also completed postgraduate studies at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing family history research, reading, and participating in the arts.
